Kingfisher International introduces new Complete FiberTester Kits, featuring our popular new 9000 series testers, and new FiberSafe inspection microscope.

Available immediately, these high quality and compact test kits provide all the tools and equipment typically needed for testing and certifying fiber installations and systems.

Options include a multimode / singlemode contractor kit, singlemode or multimode kits, and an FTTx kit.

The carry case is comfortable and easy to use, while providing adequate  equipment protection. All items have their own unique location, which helps ensure correct storage after use.

Press Release: New Handheld OTDR

Kingfisher International introduces the KI6700 Series Handheld OTDR, a compact, inexpensive mid-level instrument with up to four measurement wavelengths. The unit is particularly handy for fault finding, with it's  combination of ease of use and excellent optical performance.

Available immediately, options include singlemode 1310 / 1550 nm, or 1310 / 1550 / 1625,  and a combined multimode / singlemode unit  at 850 /1300,  1310 /1550 nm.

Press Release: FiberSafe Microscope

Kingfisher International has introduced the innovative FiberSafe Microscope. This is an inexpensive solution for checking fiber connector end-face quality, a frequent requirement for all staff who work on fiber optic systems.

Microscopes are 400 years old, but we still made useful improvements in safety and convenience. For example, this scope provides additional eye safety, should a user accidentally view a visible fault locator.

Compared to existing equipment, this scope is both simpler to use, more flexible, and provides a high quality image.

Multi-Fiber ID Feature

Kingfisher International's inexpensive new Pocket Fiber Source and Pocket Fiber Meter now have a Multi-Fiber ID feature added. Using multiple sources and one meter, this easy to use feature lets a user uniquely identify up to 12 fibers at one time.

"New Technology" InGaAs detectors now fitted to all power meters

All Kingfisher International InGaAs power meters are now fitted with "New Technology" InGaAs detectors, which provide better accuracy for 850 nm multimode applications than previous types. This finally allows customers to use just the one type of power meter for most multimode and single mode applications. This also effectively obsoletes Ge power meters, which have always suffered from lower accuracy and limited capability. See Performance Graphs

Pocket Fiber Source Release

Kingfisher International's inexpensive new Pocket Fiber Source is an inexpensive optical light source small enough to fit easily into your shirt pocket, and yet is a fully specified and accurate source with a host of useful features. It easily passes a 2 meter drop test, and is dust and moisture resistant. It comes with LED or Laser emitters at 1 - 3 wavelengths, and has excellent stability. USB interface upgrade & new technology InGaAs detectors

Kingfisher International's KI 7000 series of light sources, power meters and loss test sets have all been upgraded to a USB computer interface, improved InGaAs detectors, and revised keypad operation. This "C" series upgrade keeps our instruments in line with laptop computer trends, which all have a USB interface, but may not have a traditional RS232 interface. The new technology InGaAs detector upgrade means that this single solution is now optimal for both multimode and single mode testing.

Pocket Fiber Meter Release

One of the most expensive aspects of testing fiber installations, is the process of capturing and reporting on field acceptance testing. A big help here is achieved with the latest  KITS™ software for capturing and reporting loss testing, which has recently completed a major re-write. Compatibility with typical computer environments has been greatly improved, and it is now compatible with all currently used versions of Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office across 37 languages. It has greatly improved functionality, and features a wizard to help users set up their testing, including standards compliant options. It is easier than ever to customise reports. Alternatively, a very easy "one button download" instrument memory download feature has been added. With this new release, KITS™  continues to be the industry's best software solution.

Test Report Customisation Service

Kingfisher can now customise KITS™ reports to meet the exact needs of your customers, so you can move your fiber acceptance data directly into the required report with no labor cost or risk of damaging the data. This service is inexpensive and can easily pay for itself on medium sized jobs. All we need from you is a suitably formatted Excel spreadsheet. Kingfisher Optical Calibration Laboratory Passes Re-Accreditation

Kingfisher's Optical Calibration Laboratory is unique in our sector of the industry, in actually being an externally accredited traceable laboratory. We recently passed a major external re-accreditation audit by NATA, which involved a full scientific audit of our management, staff, procedures and equipment. While doing this audit, we also expanded our range of accredited calibration services. In combination with the excellent design of our equipment, this laboratory means we can offer the most accurate and traceable calibrations in the industry, at modest cost to our customers. Our capability includes traceable calibrations from 400 to 1650 nm.

Kingfisher Passes external QA audit

Kingfisher recently passed a major ISO9001 periodic re-assessment with flying colours. No big thing perhaps, but then we think we make some of the most reliable and practical instruments you can buy, with a high level of customer satisfaction. Our annual instrument failure rate is currently around 0.5% a year, many times better than the  industry average, and we do try to respond to customer issues and requests.

Standards Compliant Multimode Sources

Anyone who was done loss testing on multimode systems, will know that it can hard to achieve consistent results, resulting in wasted time and reduced confidence. Help is now at hand since all Kingfisher multimode LED test sources and loss test sets now feature the industry's 1st practical solution to providing a uniform modal distribution of light in the fiber core, which results in greatly improved measurement repeatability when performing multimode loss testing. Previously available solutions have been hand-selected and expensive. This solution is correct by design, and and can economically mass produced, so it is provided as standard at no extra cost to our customers.

Customer Instrument QA Service

Kingfisher is now offering a customer QA service where we put your instrument through our full manufacturing QA check, and then issue a formal Service Inspection Report. This is cheaper than a re-calibration, and is an inexpensive way of implementing a practical asset management program, to ensure that your instruments continue to perform to specification. POF Testers

Specifically designed to test 1 mm plastic optical fiber, the TK 054 test kit incorporates a power meter and light source to test loss and power at 650 nm. The source has a tight spectral specification to match the narrow 650 nm POF transmission window, and the meter is specifically designed to capture the divergent light from these large core fibers. The instruments are fitted with robust metal SMA connectors, and are supplied with an SMA test lead that the user can easily adapt to their particular needs.
