KI 9840A VCSEL Pocket Fiber Source

The small KI 9840A VCSEL Pocket Fiber Source is a specialised source for testing multimode systems at 850 nm. Compared to a LED source, a VCSEL source may provide a better modal match to the operating conditions of a data system. However, all VCSEL sources give very poor measurement stability, and so should only be used if required. Measurement is usually possible to only about 0.1 dB resolution, so it may be suitable for measuring end to end system loss, but is probably unsuitable for measuring connector loss.
